For example, in water treatment, sodium chlorate can be used to generate chlorine dioxide as an efficient disinfectant; in pulp bleaching, sodium chlorate can remove impurities from the pulp, improving paper quality. However, sodium chlorate also poses certain hazards, as it can ignite and explode when mixed with phosphorus, sulfur, and organic substances upon impact, so strict safety regulations must be followed during storage and use.
